Usually volunteering needs a person to work for free. This contributes to cutting down the cost of services to low-income group. Sometimes it even requires a volunteer to open their wallets. For an example, a NGO may give a person a chance to volunteer overseas if he bears his transportation fees as well as living expenses there. Even though working for free is one of the unhappiest events for a worker, volunteer is an admirable act in most cases.
However, as there exists the total amount of work, volunteer sometimes just means to take the place of full-time workers in NGOs. The full-time workers may say they can concentrate on the other issues if volunteers helps them and lessen their works. I think things different for this opinion because volunteers are not helping the workers but the helpless people.
So it concludes : I'm going to volunteer today to help the full-time workers :)
